We are still growing our small flock of meat sheep--concentrating on quality, not quantity. Our mission--to raise healthy, delicious tasting ,Dorper sheep that are grass fed on organically grown pastures. So far, so good--thanks to all the help we have received from fellow members of the Texas Hill Country Dorper Association and the folks at the American Dorper Sheep Breeder’s Society.

Above, twin ewes Hannah and Montana are less than a day old and are the first lambs born into our flock! Our third lamb was also a ewe, as were our fourth and fifth and another set of twins.

Lambs six and seven were twins too! Then number eight came, a nice single ram we named Mc Cain. He’s at boot camp right now. More on that later.

Spring 2009 brought us two more ewe lambs . . . yep you guessed it, twins!

And what did fall bring us? Two more ewes lambs--Hannah & Montana each delivering a ewe lamb!

Spring 2010! Twin ewe lambs again from Clover, a single ewe lamb from Lucy, a single ewe lamb from Tina 2, and . . . (insert drum roll) twin ewes from Hermine! Yep, it has got to be the water! Snowy is the last ewe left to lamb this season. She has had twin ewes each time, so let’s see if she can pull it off again. Tally: Of all the lambs born on this small ranch, 90% were ewes with 60% being twins!

Beginner’s luck? Maybe. Could be the water . . . or the clean ,country living. Or it could be the quality of our breeding stock grazing on our organically grown pastures. Maybe all three!

This website is new and under construction, but we figured we’d better get something up on the site even if it’s light and less filling. We welcome comments, our email is below.

Welcome to Ryman Dorpers--where Dorper sheep love to graze!  It seems this Dorper breed was made to live in the beautiful, Texas Hill Country.  Why?  Location, location, location.

The semi arid climate helps to keep them healthy, and the views help to keep them happy!  What more could you ask?
